High Holy Day Services
SPECIAL NOTICE: The Chevra's 2023 High Holy Day Services will be conducted in-person. The congregation does not require a membership fee, however, we are continuing our longstanding tradition as a welcoming, open synagogue where all Jews can experience the beauty of Jewish tradition and feel part of our community. To that end, we ask that you consider making a donation in the amount of your choice, (tzdekah) to fulfill one of Judaism’s most sacred obligations.
Congregation Adas Wolkowisk, dba The Chevra, provides High Holy Day services for unaffiliated Jews. For those who may not prefer a year-round membership commitment our services may be for you. If in particular:
-
You are not able to become a voting synagogue member due to financial constraints
-
You no longer have children of religious school age
-
You only spend part of the year in New York and most synagogues are not on a part-time membership basis
The Chevra's High Holy Day services are meaningful, spiritual and egalitarian. We welcome all who are unaffiliated to attend. Services are conducted by Rabbi Charles Agin, who served at the Free Synagogue of Flushing in New York until he retired. The musical portions of the service are led by a Cantor with choir and accompaniment.
